Mr James Gallagher

Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

BDS (Lond), MB,BS (Lond), LDSRCS (Eng) MRCS (Eng), FDSRCS (Eng), FFDRCSI, FRCS (Eng, OMFS).

James qualified in Dental Surgery from Guy’s Hospital Dental School, London in 1989. He developed an interest in surgery from his time as an undergraduate and undertook a medical degree, qualifying from UMDS (Guys and St Thomas’ Medical School, London) in 1996. His basic surgical training was undertaken on the South Coast (Poole and Bournemouth) and higher training was undertaken in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

He completed his higher surgical training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2005 and started work as a Consultant in Northampton. He helped develop NHS OMFS Services there as well as working privately in the Three Shires Hospital.

James has been formally involved in the training of junior and specialist trainees throughout his career. He finds it very gratifying when his trainees are successful in their chosen fields, be that as a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon or a General Dental Practitioner

He was the Training Programme Director for Dental Core Training in the East Midlands and since moving to Worcestershire has been appointed the education lead for OMFS training . He has also been the national lead for quality assurance in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as Chair of the Clinical Effectiveness Subcommittee of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from 2012 to 2015.

Working In The NHS

James looks after emergency cases, such as severe infections of the head and neck, undertakes elective skin cancer surgery and the management of patients undergoing facial deformity / orthognathic surgery.

I hold regular maxillofacial consultants and private consultations following trauma, disease, or for cosmetic reasons at Dr Julia Sen Health & Welllness Clinic in Barbourne Road, Worcester.

Services provided exclusively alongside experienced consultant skin cancer surgeons. We can offer rapid access diagnosis and treatment as well as benign and malignant skin lesion removal.
